Browser Trends and Statistics 2008

Currently covering 99.5% of the browser market, Design4Usabilty will test all development projects for end user usage on the following browsers:

 

Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 6, FirefoxMozilla, Netscape, Opera, Safari

 

Internet Explorer v7 has grown in popularity from 21.2% in January to 26% in August 2008.

 

Internet Explorer v6 has decreased in popularity from 32% in January to 24.5% in August 2008, probably due in part to the upgrade to v7.

 

Internet Explorer v5 has decreased in popularity from 1.5% in January to 0.1% in August 2008, probably due in part to the upgrade to v7.

 

Firefox has increased in popularity from 36.4% in January to 43.7% in August 2008, probably due in part to the migration of previous Mozilla users.

 

Mozilla has decreased in popularity from 1.3% in January to 0.5% in August 2008, probably due in part to the merge and upgrade to MozillaFirefox.

 

Safari has increased slightly in popularity from 1.9% in January to 2.6% in August 2008.

 

Opera has also increased slightly in popularity from 1.4% in January to 2.1% in August 2008.

 

Interestingly, Microsoft's Internet Explorer has experienced a 4.1% decline in usage overall.
